The Lovin' Spoonful Essentials

The Lovin' Spoonful Essentials

John Sebastian was one of the great songwriters of his generation. The Lovin' Spoonful created joyous sing-alongs that embraced rock, blues, pop, folk, ragtime and jug band music. Their later heavier songs rank amongst the best rock tunes of the '60s. After rising out of the Greenwich Village folk scene, the band's shiny 1965 debut, Do You Believe in Magic, went Top 40 and spawned two Top 10 singles. By '67 they'd released five diverse albums and two soundtracks, when Sebastian quit to begin his solo career. The Lovin' Spoonful were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000.
