Norman Connors Essentials

Norman Connors Essentials

Successful on the '70s charts and sometimes knocked as a sellout, drummer Norman Connors moved from cutting-edge jazz to disco within just a few years. He first recorded with the innovative likes of Archie Shepp, Pharoah Sanders and Sun Ra; his first solo albums explored the improvisational side of funk and fusion. 1975's hit, You Are My Starship, found him fully crossed over to smooth R&B and dance music, where he'd stay for much of his career. Connors employed a variety of guest singers in the studio; Phyllis Hyman, The Jones Girls and Jean Carn all lent their voices to his hits.
