Los Enanitos Verdes Essentials

A midway point between Santana's salsa-jazzed classic rock and later rock en español, Argentine band Los Enanitos Verdes began recording together in the mid-’80s, playing a style of music that mixed Latin influences with Clapton-style blues. Long on chops but rarely very showy about it, the band wrote songs that were by turns melancholic and propulsive. Tracks such as “Cordillera”, “Dale Pascual” and “Guitarras Blancas” matched the rhythmic motion of early Police, while singer Marciano Cantero, who died in September 2022, added a pensive intensity to the mix.
