About Jonny Z

San Diegan bass music artist Jonny Z. began performing in the early '90s and scored his first hit in 1993 with "Shake-Shake," which was released by Quality Records and reached the Top 40 of Billboard's dance chart. He repeated this success with his 1996 self-titled debut album, which included three other Top 40 dance chart hits, "No Señor," "Mamacita," and "Latin Swing." Two years later, his follow-up, Z 1 N Only, appeared; he then switched to the One Love imprint for his third album, 1999's Sancho Villa. The following year, Jonny Z. moved to Thump Records and released his fourth full-length, Bass Balla, which featured contributions from Tequila Mission, the South Park Mexican, and ODM from a Lighter Shade of Brown and other like-minded artists. ~ Heather Phares
