About Hatfield & The North
Hatfield & the North were a vital part of England's Canterbury scene, merging prog rock with jazz fusion. The band formed in 1972, its members having previously played with similarly minded outfits including Delivery, Caravan, Gong, Quiet Sun, Egg, and Robert Wyatt's group, Matching Mole. They released two albums that were highly influential in the prog world before disbanding, with keyboardist Dave Stewart going on to form National Health. They reunited briefly in the '90s and again in the 2000s, and various archival collections of National Health rarities have been released over the years.
