About The Lijadu Sisters
Sisters Kehinde and Taiwo Lijadu began working as session vocalists in Nigerian recording studios in the late '60s, and recorded Iya Mi Jowo under their own name album in 1969, going on to release an average of one new album every two years until the mid-'80s. Their style, a Catholic mixture of Afrobeat, funk, and straightforward pop, was pleasant enough, but would have fared much better in the international marketplace toward which their label, West African Decca Records, strove to place them, given strong and individual production. In 1990 they supported General Prince Adekunle on his Evil Cabal album.
