About Stephen Simmonds

Swedish singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and son of a Jamaica-born musician, Stephen Simmonds began playing piano at a very young age. He became involved in popular music mostly influenced by the American smooth soul, roots reggae from Jamaica, and later by alternative pop/rock. After teaming up with his friend and musician Peter Catries, Stephen Simmonds started working on a demo that led to his European debut. Alone was released in 1997 and featured the hit single and local music-award winning "Tears Never Dry." That same album was re-released in the U.S. by Priority Records as Spirit Tales, including two additional tracks "I Can't Do That," produced by Soulshock, and "If I Was Your Man." ~ Drago Bonacich
