EDITORS’ NOTES

Innovative jazz pianist Shelly Berg crosses the Atlantic for this celebration of George Gershwin. Recorded at AIR Lyndhurst Studios, this collection finds him joining the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and José Serebrier for some classics. "Rhapsody in Blue" has its feet firmly planted in the world of jazz here, as Berg loosens it up and gives it swing. His take on "An American in Paris," meanwhile, is bound to put a smile on your lips. Throughout, with some special guests—his own trio, trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, bass player Mark O’Connor, vocalists Ledisi and Monica Mancini—he brings new vibrancy to the music of a legend.

Gorgeous, interesting, musical

A great mix of the classic Gershwin with improvisation that melds perfectly with the original.

The transitions are smooth, not jarring. The interpretations interesting and tasteful. Passion flowing from all the instruments. A great recording that allows you to here the intricate details. Wow.
