Midnight Love - EP

Like the character from which she takes her stage name—the vivacious girlfriend to Matthew Broderick’s Ferris Bueller—Sydney’s Sloan Peterson's (real name: Joe Jackson) debut EP is at once coolly laidback and unblushingly self-conscious. The bulk of Midnight Love ambles through breezy, sun-drenched garage pop (“I Want You,” “Rats”) with softer, more intimate moments (“Break My Heart”), revealing deeper layers to the youthful atmosphere. It all reaches a glorious end with the ridiculously catchy closer “105,” carried by the kind of riff you feel like you’ve known forever, but still want to listen to again and again.
