About Masicka

Dancehall singer Masicka first made a name for himself in 2009 when he won a high-profile deejay competition sponsored by Caribbean media giant Hype TV. ∙ His breakout single, the fleet-tongued “Guh Haad and Done,” became his first regional hit in Jamaica in 2011, quickly earning him a devoted following. ∙ In 2013, Masicka won Best Upcoming Artist at Jamaica’s Music Industry Achievers awards, and his singles “Karma” and “Why We Work” were UK radio hits. ∙ He collaborated with Grammy Award-winning dancehall star Sean Paul and producer ZJ Liquid on 2017’s potent cannabis anthem “High Yes (Remix).” ∙ The music video for his 2018 single “They Don’t Know” achieved mainstream success in the US after it was played on BET Jams, and it has since been viewed more than 27 million times. ∙ At the 2020 International Reggae & World Music Awards, Masicka was nominated for Best Male Artiste.
