Bonnie Tyler Essentials

Bonnie Tyler is the pint-size Welsh singer who took the world by storm in 1983 with one of the greatest ballads of all time: “Total Eclipse of the Heart”. Vocal-node surgery in 1976 had given her a distinctive raspy voice, and with her pristine articulation and arch, Dolly Parton-esque timbre, she had her first taste of success with the country-pop hit “It’s a Heartache”. The comeback smash “Eclipse” was followed by the Footloose anthem “Holding Out for a Hero” a year later; Tyler continued to release vital, bluesy tracks like “This Is Gonna Hurt” into the 21st century.
