About Larry Butler

Larry Butler earned musical acclaim from an early age. A child prodigy on the piano, Butler played with the Harry James Orchestra at age six, sang with Red Foley by 10, and won a major classical competition in his teens. After tickling the ivories for the Memphis rockers the Gentrys (of "Keep on Dancing" fame), he joined Capitol Records as a producer, where he swiftly became a force in the Nashville universe. He teamed up with Johnny Cash for some of his most classic recordings, before aiding Kenny Rogers in a string of chart hits including "Coward of the County" and "The Gambler."
