About Dru
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember sitting on the stairs as a kid, watching my grandfather’s mariachi band rehearse in our living room every Wednesday. I’d stare at the violins and trumpets, studying the rhythm up close, probably in the way but completely mesmerized. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Justice, Justice Metallica, ...And Justice for All (Remastered) Radiohead, In Rainbows I can listen to these front to back without skipping. These albums broke me out of verse-chorus expectations—each track evolves and goes somewhere unexpected. They showed me albums can be immersive worlds, not just collections of songs. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Variables” “Variables” was inspired by a Soulwax show that shook me up. I went home that night and made music differently, letting distorted synths and driving drums lead instead of melody. It marked a shift in how I build tracks and trust raw energy. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? In the early days, I headlined a music and art festival in downtown San Jose. I built my own backdrop, wore a helmet, and DJ’d from a custom table made of old PA speakers. I look back at that fearless energy and think, “I really did all that?” Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I want to build a spaceship—either as a stage setup or for music videos. It would bring together all my creative skills: lighting, sound, tech, and fabrication. The goal is to turn my shows into a full sci-fi world people can step inside.
